Grave Towers

  by Roger W Hancock

Towers crumbled,

inhabitants crushed.

Mound of rubble,

entombs the dead.

Rescuers rescue,

victims become.

Massive grave,

the aftermath.

Scrap metal marks,

as cross upon ,

Monumental grave.

We Will Remember

           by Roger W Hancock

Forget not the pain,

rain of the dead, dying.

Buildings crumbling,

security broken.

Attacks on U.S. soil,

financed by purchased oil.

Culture of hate towards,

cultured affluent compassion.

Sleepy eyes awake,

still clouded by liberal wake.

War continues against terror,

anti-American sentiment.

Learning liberty’s price,

responsible freedom’s way.

As the Revolutionary War,

the Alamo, Pearl Harbor,

we will remember 9-11.

Day of somber, reflection,

everyday heroes,

Heroes unsung.

We will remember,

each September.

     Land of Am

        by Roger W Hancock

Multitudes follow,

pied piper of opportunity.

Seek the elusive dream,

follow the yellow brick,

Road from destitution.

modern land of Atlantis,

Oz of third world dreams,

land of greener desire,

by land, by sea… any path,

to many a pointless death.

Lives jeopardized,

dreams of sugar plums,

drawn by pipers tune,

Sing an illegal promise.

lives lost achieve fulfillment,

escape despair of hopelessness,

Lands void of hope’s promise.

emerald city, grass greener,

Falters becomes dry, broken,

promise freely given.

Hands outstretched becomes weak,

accommodation of less fortunate,

Weakened, a toll upon her warmth.

wrath of discontent,

Yearnings of pasture green,

turns city of clouds to dark.

Loans of compassion, gifts of hope,

envy turns kings, leaders against,

hating, dream beyond reach.

Generosity’s under appreciation,

affluent Gifts produce jealousy,

international sugar daddy.

Modern land of Atlantis,

Oz of third world dreams,

land of greener desire.

             Your One Vote

                 by Roger W Hancock

American vote, people’s government.

The Vote, your vote, toss not away.

Citizen’s duty sure, responsibility.

Sovereign say, in affairs of state.

Your voice, your one single vote.

Each ballot counts, each one vote,

each ballot cast, society’s voice.

One vote a difference makes,

when all will cast their one vote.

Revolution begins with a single vote.

cast your vote, keep America right.

One vote with many others,

rules this liberty nation.

A vote not cast, a vote against.

Fails by default, your vote not cast.

Majority wins by majority vote.

Be proud, speak out… get out and vote.

    Pride’s Flag

    by Roger W Hancock

Red soiled sacrifice.

White freedom rights.

Blue equitable skies.

Colors now emblazoned,

represents a righteous nation.

Truth on which to stand,

diversity over this great land.

America, land of free,

world’s true land of liberty.

No other nation compares,

generosity shows the care.

Statue of Liberty a gift,

symbol sentry freedom’s shift.

Scrutiny of freedom’s eye,

eagle’s eye of liberty… aye, aye.

Captains of our destiny,

freedom’s responsibility.

Of this land I sing,

sweetness on freedom wings.

Together free society,

with our individuality.

Sewn in colored hue,

pride displayed on staff,

our red, white, and blue.

     One Flag

             by Roger W Hancock

 One flag over one land,

one flag, our ever-loving freedom.

One flag evangelize,

one flag to teach world peace.

One flag alone stands tall,

one flag in righteousness.

One flag when tattered shows,

one flag over struggling rights.

One flag of history’s pride,

one flag over any other.

One flag, remembrance,

one flag, freedom’s sacrifice.

One flag alone stands tall,

one flag; the red, white, and blue.

One flag, one heart, one hand,

one flag over this great land.

One flag in protest fly,

one flag, responsible liberty.

One flag, my God allows,

one flag, my worship free.

One flag, Old Glory,

one flag, American banner.

One flag, one nation’s flag;

I pledge to this one flag.

     Patriotism

       by Roger W Hancock

Love of one’s country

a natural condition.

Justified when premise,

purpose, cause be righteous.

From out of oppression,

compassion for others.

No other country

has done more;

For world’s oppressed,

poor, downtrodden.

Mistakes have been made,

history’s past to learn.

Fact still remains…

its the U.S. that cares.

Why do we love

this country so?

For freedom it stands,

oppression it fights.

America, land of free,

our liberty pride!

Secure Liberty

           by Roger W Hancock

Upon air of suspicion,

Security at risk.

Liberty must secure,

From freedom dangers.

Thoughtful feelings,

Unintended consequence.

Free skies, spirit flies,

Responsibility the key.

Liberty will survive,

Freedom’s offense.

Secure liberty,

Restrict freedom.

Freedom's restraint,

Secures our liberty.

Red White and Blue

                          by Roger W Hancock

Stars and Stripes, clear blue skies,
reminding glorious blessings,
wind whipped, waving free.
Grand flag silhouette, sunset red,
reminding Scarlet price paid.
Wind whipped, waving free.
Banner, white puffed clouds,
highlighting Nation’s glory.
Wind whipped, waving free.
Stars and Stripes, clear free skies.

  Opinion Puzzle

              by Roger W Hancock

Opinions from all, from all an opinion.
Passion in opinion when believed.

Beliefs from fact or factless feelings?

Issues unknown of foreign affairs,

too many pieces of the puzzle,

for decision to be truly valid.

Feelings sadness over innocence lost,

surrender the moment, feelings of sorrow.

Consideration, lost of facts beyond.

Opinion weakened by lack of fact.

Save innocent now, few be saved.
Work beyond that more be delivered.

Loaf of bread to feed the day,

Teach to bake, feed for life.

Surrender the moment, feel good,

some may thank, but more to suffer.

Assisting now to help one’s need,
often too soon, affect more suffering.

Patience, strategy, plan of action, think…
too many puzzle pieces… unknown.
