     Freedom

              by Roger W Hancock

Ring the Bells of Freedom,

and liberty tolls for we.

Quench the Ring of Freedom,

and oppression tolls for thee.

   The Liberal

                      by Roger W Hancock

A liberal was once for liberty,

now they want controlled society.

Liberals lie, liberals deceive.

But why, don't liberals perceive:

a liberal was once for freedom,

they now, reject the founders’ wisdom.

Nation Quote

   by Roger W Hancock

Liberation,

cause to revolt.

Declaration,

freedom bequote.

Constitution,

our rights they wrote.

Foundation,

just laws devote.

Religion,

liberty does quote.

Emancipation,

equally emote.

Protection,

our laws a moat.

Inauguration,

speaks the keynote.

Election,

our right to vote.

Taxation,

bondage promote.

Regulation,

freedom demote.

Immigration,

America's cloak.

Naturalization,

freedom smote.

Nation,

the people denote.

Liberty Be

 by Roger W Hancock

As a rose its beauty adorns,
has its pricks, has it's thorns.
Life in Liberty, the freedom we see,
has its trials, be forewarned.

Through the air the bell rings free,
cover the bell and the ding sounds dim.

Regulation restricts sovereign unity,
as freedom strains from lawyers' whim.

Beauty abounds in the garden of flowers,

the gardener toils, for blooms all to view.

Liberty for some is oppression for others,
rights for all means, not all rights for you.

The Nation's bell once rang free,

the crack down side proclaims the cost.

Life in liberty, is not… freedom be,

rights came, by devoted lives lost.

One single bloom awaits more flowers,

to many, too close chokes the debut.
One lone liberty may stifle another;
balance of rights is responsibility to you.

        Twisted Politics

                  by Roger W Hancock

Conservatism, the politics of the fathers,

who were the liberals that day far back.

Well thought out the premise they gave,

the guidebook to a nation come great.

Restriction of government from our lives,

was the first thought in rebellion to right.

Representation of all to create just laws,

protection and equality for the populace all.

The premise they gave now controversy,

restriction of religion not then but now.

Taxation without representation thought,

a three percent tax too high, look now!

What a turn this nation has taken,

beginnings of freedom now into oppression.

The creation of law was for justice for all,

all rights for each are injustice for others.

This country so great which all of us love,

opinions galore how our country should be.

The foundations set by great wisdom of past,

today rejected, distorted, by winds of opinion.

      Not  Free

          by Roger W Hancock

Nothing is ever free,

though to you it be.

Somewhere, somehow,

someone paid.

       Our Flag

                by Roger W Hancock

Our country’s flag, a banner heralds,

equality learned, equality seeks.

Represents created rights,

out of oppression came foresight.

Our nation’s flag may not be liked,

but has respect through out the world.

Power exists when premise just,

victory came when right entrust.

The colors evoke the pride in us.

Patriotism; red, white and blue.

Right prevails when self, denied,

then rights for all are fortified.

    The Price

        by Roger W Hancock

There is a price for everything,

nothing is easy, nothing free.

To be left without wanting,

then you must pay the cost.

With little price paid

and your appreciation lean,

value slips away to fade.

The desired becomes ignored.

If you yearn, if necessity be,

work for it to earn the worth.

Then care for it that you shall see,

the appraisal shall not deflate.

Freedom comes to everyone,

if the price be paid, with blood.

Sacrifice for sake of freedom,

it is not easy and it is not free.

         Tall and Free

               by Roger W Hancock

Towers standing tall and free,
within, movers, shakers of affluence.
Symbols of a vibrant economy,
to the world with freedom's influence.

From the evil of a misguided culture,
spreading hate of zealot destruction.
Killing in a land thought secure,
purpose lost in their aggression.

Towers now gone, a pile of rubble,
six thousand killed by assassins' hate.
In all of America freedom excels,
to it's demise, no one can orchestrate.

We will rebuild, paid from our affluence,
decisions to make affecting the world.
Symbols again with stronger defense,
freedom reigns in our pride renewed.

America has always stood tall, free and proud,
adversity reveals our weakness to solve.
For freedom's security we'll shout aloud,
resistance only strengthens... our resolve.

The Heroes

   by Roger W Hancock

Some heroes obvious, some unsung,

their lives and health, tempting fate.

Vulnerable in tasks for our civilization,

few glories for their life’s profession.

The Service men in our Armed Forces,

the cause be sure for freedom’s sake.

For their family, strangers, citizens all,

few medals show their life’s duress.

The policeman whose life is in peril,

by high-speed chase, gunfight ensued.

The simple traffic stop may kill,

few medals show the dangers faced.

The man who is trained as a fireman,

to save our lives, our homes from fire.

The first on scene when aid in need,

few medals show each hazardous deed.

The utilities that keep our comfort whole,

power and phone, the men on poles.

Sewage, garbage disposed for health,

no recognition for the civilian fight.

The many others whose work obscure,

performing tasks with risks not yours.

Construction, or the viral flu to cure,

no medals glory for the civilian plight.

Freedom's Colors

   by Roger W Hancock

"Red is for Bravery";

blood shed in sacrifice.
Freedom came with lives the price.

"White is for Liberty";

freedom's purity.
Life be free from God's decree.

"Blue is for Justice";

as vast as the sky.
Over freedom's land to occupy.

       Our Pride, Our Flag

                        by Roger W Hancock

The American Flag means much to all,

opportunity for some, to better their lot.

Life in freedom the dream to live out,

ponder the Red, White and Blue.

Sacrifice of blood the seed of liberty,

responsibility to all to keep the treasure.

Fight or vote your duty is sure.

Pay tribute to the Red, White and Blue.

Bravery in sacrifice displayed by red,

purity of liberty, shown in white.

Justice for all within the blue.

Freedom colors; Red, White and Blue.

One star now for each of fifty states,

First thirteen states one stripe for each.

Unity in diversity is our union’s strength.

Power shown in the Red, White and Blue.

The union of white stars on blue,

when flag displayed, is on the left.

Red, white stripes stretching right.

Display it right the Red, White and Blue.

As we read from left to right,

display the flag to prominent left.

When on the platform it’s to your right.

Salute with pride the Red, White and Blue.

The American Flag the pride of all,

of conservative right to liberal left.

Consider freedom, consider truth,

do it proud for the Red, White and Blue.

Fourth of July

   by Roger W Hancock

Independence Day,

we show our pride,

pride shown,

with fireworks.

Fireworks represent,

bombs bursting in air;

burst in air in war,

war for freedom.

Freedom by sacrifice,

sacrifice of blood.

Young blood spilt,

paid the cost.

Price paid in blood,

blood spent.

Liberty for you,

a man gave his life.

Life lost for love,

love of country,

land of free,

paid by the brave.

Sparks high in sky,

reminder of men,

brave lives gone...

Patriot loss,

      Patriot pride.
