     Liberty’s Trait
                                     by Roger W Hancock

Veterans fought that you might not,
express respect of honor we ought.
     Freedom by brave Veterans’ blood,
     Veterans’ lives, our liberty won.
If must protest, dissent, or demonstrate,
remember the Vet. who’s laid out straight.
Try resistance in a communist state,
bondage, death will be ones fate.
     Though war violence, may hate,
your right to say is liberty’s trait.
Freedom of speech, Veterans’ lives won,
     remember Veterans’ spilt blood.
     Respect owed within our thoughts,
     Veterans war for liberty wrought.
